

Gail was born on Oct. 13, 1938, in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward "W.E." and Opal Margaret Jones Kuykendall; and a daughter, Abbie Elizabeth McLeod (born in 8-15-1960, passed away 8-16-1960).
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Steven Samuel Fitzgerald; a daughter, Karen Leigh McLeod Hall and her husband, Mark Lane Hall; son, John “Mac” Fletcher McLeod, IV and his wife, Lisa Georgeanne Rainey McLeod, son, William “Wallace” McLeod and his wife, Tylene Rachel Walton McLeod, daughter, Pamela Kay McLeod; one sister, Myrtle “Willene” Kuykendall Davis and her husband, James Boyd “ J. B” Davis; 13 grandchildren: Sarrah Elizabeth Weems Murray Boone(born in1979) and her husband Gordon Boone, Dalton Zane McLeod Hall (born in1997), Terra Christine Hall (born in 1982), John “Joe” Fletcher McLeod, V (born in 1984) and his wife Kayla Marie McLeod, Ryan Clinton McLeod (born in 1989), Amber Leanne Lumpkin Chancey (born in 1984) and her husband, Paul Randall Chancey, Jeremy Lane Lumpkin (born in 1986), Patrick Ashley McLeod (born in 1980), Brian Preston McLeod (born in 1986), “Nicole” Karen Abbie McLeod (born in 1991), William “Jackson” McLeod (born in 2004), Samuel Martin McLeod,(born in 2006), Micah Daniel McLeod (born in 2007); and eight great-grandchildren: Annaleigh Kasey Murray (born in 2002), Gordon Cromer Boone, IV, (born in 2007), Katherine Loraine Boone (born in 2009), Jeremy Orion Gregg (born in 2002), Owen Phillip McLeod (born in 2006), Kyrie Noel McLeod (born in 2007), Dylan Paul Chancey (born in 2008) and Reina Lilyan LaPread (born in 2011).
Gail was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1976.
A service was conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 17 Berry Farm Road, Staunton by Mike Swinson.
Burial followed in Thornrose Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
