Geraldine Elizabeth Keeter

Geraldine “ Gerry” Elizabeth Ward Keeter, 91 of Staunton went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at a local nursing home. Born December 7, 1923 in Hobbsville, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Caleb Beecher and Virgie Christian Copeland Ward. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, John Alvin Keeter, Sr.

She was a lifelong member of Green Lakes Baptist Church of Portsmouth, Virginia. She was resident of Portsmouth until 5 years ago when she moved to Brightview Baldwin Park to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

Survivors include her son, John Alvin Keeter, Jr. and his wife, Debbie of Havelock, North Carolina; a daughter, Beth Keeter Blackmer and her husband, Eugene of Staunton, Virginia; two granddaughters, Laura Beth Garner and Leigh Anne Carter both of Staunton; great grandsons, Theran and Asher Garner; brother-in- law, Howard Arrington of Portsmouth, Virginia.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are being handled by Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Staunton.

A graveside service will be conducted at Olive Branch Cemetery in Portsmouth, Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 with Dr. Dwight Buchholz officiating.
