
Mrs. Sherrill was born on Aug. 23, 1921, in Verona, and was a daughter of the late Harry and Stella (Griener) Sutton. She retired after 15 years as supervisor at the Shenandoah Valley Detention Home. Marjorie was an avid camper and loved spending time outdoors and gardening. She was a devoted animal lover of all kinds.
On March 23, 1951, she married William Sherrill who survives.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sherrill is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Simmons Shover, and husband, Leonard, of Middlebrook; a son, William Farron Sherrill and wife, Paula, of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Nola Crum, Carl Shover, Sarah Sherrill and Andy Sherrill; two great-grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan Crum; nephew, Hansford Humphries and wife, Dorothy; niece, Gloria Hildebrand and husband, Bennie; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving of eight children.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with the Rev. Marilyn Heishman officiating. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Andy Sherrill, Carl Shover, David Moody, Ronald Rohr, Ronald Rohr Jr. and Justin Rohr.
