Suzanne Thomas Laprade

Suzanne was born in Vinton, VA to Helen and Bernard K Thomas on September 30, 1939. She went to school at William Byrd Highschool. She graduated from William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts and the University of Iowa with a Masters in Fine Art & Sculpture. She worked as an Art Teacher, Art Professor & Professional Portrait Painter for over 50 years. She received numerous best-in-show awards in Virginia and New Jersey, national art publication coverage, and portraiture awards.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her husband, James Wallace “Wally” LaPrade. She and Wally were married at Belmont Christian Church in Roanoke, VA on December 30, 1996 and enjoyed almost 19 wonderful years together.

Suzanne is survived by her only son Peter Thomas Farrell and his wife Jennifer Farrell of Monument CO, her Grandchildren Peter J. Farrell and his wife Tara Farrell, Jessica Farrell, and Sean Farrell.

Memorials may be given to Augusta Regional SPCA, in Staunton VA
