A loving husband and proud father Lorne M. Claymore gained his angel wings unexpectedly on January 31st 2022. He was 80 years young. He was preceded by his mother Helenge Desbiens and father Byron Yanocko. He was survived by his loving wife Ronna Claymore, and children Jennifer (Corey), Lorne Michael (Kristen), Christie, John, and his three grandchildren Troy, Jett, and Bodhi who made up the entirety of his world. He was also survived by his sister Vivian (John).
Lorne was a father who helped his children achieve their own aspirations and was incredibly proud of all their accomplishments. He was dapper and gregarious, spontaneous and thoughtful. His gentle nature was displayed through his affection with his grandchildren. The time and dedication he afforded his loved ones exemplified his endless generosity. His big heart and tireless energy lead him to be a coach across many fields that will remain in the memories of those lives he touched.
A humble start, born in a chicken coop on a farm in Onslow Qc, he grew up in the Saguenay and worked summers life guarding in Shipshaw and working at Price Brothers pulp and paper mill. His equestrian experience led to him being sought out to overcome a seemingly unrideable horse with the Royal Horse Guards as part of the 100th running of the Queens Plate while still a teenager. He left the Saguenay and earned his first coaching certificate from University du Quebec, then from the University of Ottawa he obtained a double Major in Physical Education and Psychology followed by a Masters in Science in Cardiovascular Health from the University of Colorado all while coaching the Boulder Valley Aquanauts swim team. Within the next years, a few examples of his outcomes and impact included: Class A PGA Golf Pro and led PGA Seniors tour once for 4 holes in a row with 3 back to back birdies; Colorado research in skiing for his Canadian Instructor Ski Alliance accreditation; Head coach for the University of Colorado for swimming; Winner of the open class at the University of Ottawa Greco Roman Wrestling; Triathlete, coming in 1st place at Grey Rocks; Played football (wore #13) played soccer and fenced at the University of Ottawa; Founded the first football team in the laurentian and led the teams he coached to Provincial placements in Basketball, Volleyball and Football, showcasing a continuous mission to have people perform beyond expectations; Head Pro in Golf and Ski Programs and clinics throughout the Laurentian’s, most notably during The Chanteclerc’s golden days. Coaching Hockey, Figure Skating cross training, Paintball team conditioning and everything in between leading to 42 coaching credentials that he leveraged as a polyvalente physical education teacher for 35 years and for his children. In the 1970’s he helicopter skied over 100,000 feet in the Bugaboo’s and survived a helicopter crash with his best man where he accepted Jesus into his life. On the returning flight home is where he met his wonderful flight attendant wife, which resulted in 46 years of marriage, 4 beautiful children, and 3 grandchildren. These were some of the proudest moments of his life.
