Ana Awilda Garcia

Ana was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico to Ana Hilda Rovira and Louis Raul Rosado on January 11th, 1957. She went to school in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico for her Bachelors degree and graduated from Fordham University for her Masters degree. She worked as an Elementary School Teacher for Caguas Norte School District, KinderCare, Fairfax County Public Schools, and Arlington County Public Schools for 34 years.

Ana Awilda Garcia is survived by her daughter Angelyanne Garcia and son in law Joseph T. Donegan; her sister Leticia Rosado and brother, Johnny Rosado Rovira.

Ana leaves behind a legacy rooted in unwavering faith, patience, and kindness. She was always willing to offer a shoulder to cry on or a listening ear during difficult times, even when she was facing challenges of her own.

Ana also had a deep love for adventure and the outdoors. She found joy in taking daily walks with her dogs, tending to her garden, and simply sitting outside in her favorite chair, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the peaceful sounds of nature. Her adventurous spirit was especially evident when, at 65 years old, she completed a 10K Spartan Race–an accomplishment that perfectly reflected her strength and determination.

She also loved going shopping, whether she came home with something new or simply enjoyed browsing the stores. Ana embraced both life’s great adventures and its quiet, everyday pleasures, leaving those who knew her with countless cherished memories.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Cremation Society of Virginia. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Demaine Life Celebration Center of Loudoun County, 45511 E Severn Way, Sterling, Virginia 20166.

The family of Ana wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Yacur and Dr. Sandu of Inova Schar Cancer, Hospice of the Panhandle, Valley Home Health, and all of the workers, nurses, and staff who played a part in her fight.
