Alfonso Quiroga, 91, passed away on October 12, 2026. Born on January 14, 1935, in Monterrey, Mexico, Alfonso carried with him a steady sense of purpose throughout a long life shaped by devotion to family, quiet thoughtfulness, and patient strength. He was a resident of Chicago, Illinois.
From the beginning, Alfonso’s life was rooted in family. He was the son of Maria Galvan and Matias Quiroga, and he shared his early years alongside siblings Fernando and Jose Anselmo. Those foundations—love, responsibility, and perseverance—remained evident in the way he lived and cared for others.
Alfonso was known for a tireless work ethic and a selfless determination that did not waver, even when he was sick. In the daily choices that define a life, he showed what it means to be dependable and devoted, offering his time and effort with steady patience and consideration for those around him.
As a young man, Alfonso traveled, carrying a curiosity for the wider world that stayed with him. In later years, he found simple joy and faithful loyalty in the Chicago Cubs, a love that reflected his enduring spirit—steadfast, hopeful, and true.
Above all, Alfonso was devoted to his family, and nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. They held a special place in his heart, and the love and pride he had for them was immeasurable. He is survived by his wife, Elodia nee, Gonzalez; his children, Cesar Javier and Alfonso. He was also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Melissa (Eduardo) and Ryan (Ashley). He was a great-grandfather to Hailey, Oliver, Eleanor, and Maddox, and a great-great-grandfather to Olivia and Lyla.
