

She graduated from Morton East High School where she and her "Mag" friends formed a lifelong bond. She then went on to study nursing at St. Luke's Presbyterian in Chicago. While in nursing school she met her future husband, James 'Jim' McCabe, who had just come from Scotland. They married in 1963.
She started her nursing career at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois where she worked as a surgical nurse. It was a job that she truly loved and where she gained many friend that she had until the end. She and her husband Jim had three children while living in Stickney, Illinois; Doug (Susie) McCabe, Heather (David) Angus, and Russ McCabe, who all survive her. The family outgrew their house in Stickney and moved to Countryside, Illinois where she and Jim lived out the rest of their lives.
Other surviving family members include her two granddaughters; Kyleen (Dillon) Bach and Kenzie McCabe, her brother; Jim (Karen) Peterik, her special cousin; Leandra Kuras, her sister-in-law; Nan Dunn of Scotland, and many nieces and nephews both in the United States and Scotland. Alice Anne is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Jim, her sister; Janice, her brothers-in-law; Frank and Hugh, and sister-in-law; Marie.
She loved her family, her friends, nature, music, Willie, and life. She will be deeply missed.
A visitation for the family and friends of Alice Anne will be held on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, Illinois 60402. A prayer service with a musical performance will occur at 1:00 PM that same day. Services will conclude with a graveside service at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, Illinois 60402.
