Barb was born March 13, 1936, in Berwyn, Illinois, to June and Bill Becker. After the early loss of her father, she was lovingly adopted and raised by Jack Moore. She grew up as the devoted older sister to Sheri and Johnny, remembered for her tomboy spirit, fierce protectiveness of family, and the determination to climb the highest trees. As a child she survived polio, which left her partially paralyzed but never diminished her lively spirit or her will to live fully.
Barb met the love of her life, Bob Little, while they worked together in MacNeal’s kitchens during high school. They married in 1957 at St. Leonard Catholic Church and made their home in Berwyn, where they raised four children: Bobby Little, Laurie (Dorgan), Kathy (Loris), and Sandy (Bower). Their home was a warm gathering place for family, friends, nieces and nephews, and neighborhood children—many of whom lovingly remembered Barb as a surrogate mother.
A woman of energy and generosity, Barb loved volleyball, sewing, crochet, dancing, and playing piano. She was a talented seamstress who poured love into every stitch, whether hemming clothes, crafting costumes, or crocheting gifts for loved ones. Just as memorable were the meals and desserts she prepared with such care—her kitchen always smelled of something delicious, and no one ever left her table hungry. Her working life included time as a line operator for Ma Bell, years caring for local children as a babysitter, and 15 years of devoted service to School District 100. She also volunteered as a PTA librarian and served as a den mother for both Boy and Girl Scouts.
Barb’s family meant everything to her. She is survived by her children Bobby (Denise Little), Laurie, and Sandy (Mike Galbavy); her sister Sheri (Gene Henderson); her grandchildren Deanne (John), Josh, Shawn (Alexis), Kenzie, Jenna (Mitch), Ross (Jessica), Brianna, and Brittany; her great-grandchildren Drake, Grace, Olivia, Jackson, Beau, Tessa, Declan, and Xander; several nieces and nephews; and her honorary son, Paul Loris.
She was preceded in death by her cherished parents; her beloved husband, Bob; her daughter, Kathy (John Loris); her brother, Johnny (Elizabeth Moore); her nephews, Jack and Bobby; her grandson, Joel; and her uncle who always acted as her big brother, Bob Bremmer. Though deeply missed, she leaves behind countless loved ones who find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited and dancing once more with the love of her life.
