Betty Lou Whitaker

Betty Lou Whitaker, age 82, passed away peacefully at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Illinois on March 14th, 2025. Betty was born on February 24th, 1944, in Kentucky to her parents, the late Charlie Levi England and Goldie Marie Sutton. She was one of nine children.

Betty is survived by her daughters; Teresa (the late Chad) Engel and Pamela (Mark) Kaszniak, her beloved grandchildren; Jennifer (Tom) Longo, Matthew Collazo and Christine Collazo, her cherished great-grandchildren; Tommy Longo, Drake Longo, Maddux Longo, and Draven Collazo, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty joins her husband Matthew Whitaker in passing.

A longtime resident of Cicero, Betty and her husband worked many years for nursing homes in the area. She and Matthew were employed many years at Fairfax Nursing Home in Berwyn, Illinois. Her last place of employment was Oregon Nursing Home in Oregon, IL.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Rummy, Scrabble, and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed lottery scratch off tickets and Bingo computer games.

Services by Mount Auburn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's honor can be made to Serenity Hospice and Home.
