Concepcion Matos

Concepcion Matos, of Tamarac, Florida passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025. Concepcion was born in December 8, 1934 in Cuamo, Puerto Rico to his parents Trinidad Bernardi and Etanislao Matos. Loving husband of the late Carmen Lydia Santiago Matos of 69 years. Cherished father of 8 children; Ricardo Matos, Orlando (Aida) Matos, Concepcion Jr. (Luz) Matos, Evelyn Nieves, Javier Matos, Frank Matos, Yolanda (Luis) Garcia and Osvaldo Matos. Beloved Wito of 22 and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Concepcion served in the National Guard in Puerto Rico. He was a block captain in the Village of Berwyn, IL. He proudly helped with the elections. He was a crossing guard for the local elementary school. Concepcion enjoyed playing the guitar especially during the holidays. At one time, he was a lector reader at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and sang in the choir at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Cicero, IL and St. Malachy Catholic Church in Tamarac, Florida. He spent time volunteering at different parishes and helped family and friends.

A visitation for Matos will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, Illinois 60402. Funeral service Thursday, September 4, 2025. Family and friends can gather at 8:00 a.m. at Mount Auburn Funeral Home to follow in procession for 9:30 a.m. mass at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church, 1500 S. 59th Ct., Cicero, Illinois 60804. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL.
