Dennis Jon Anderson

Anderson, Dennis Jon Age 67, of Lake Mattoon, IL, formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away at 4:11 a.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013, at his home. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Stickney, IL. There will be no funeral service. Born September 15, 1946, in Long Beach, CA, Dennis was the son of Ernie and Elaine (Nelson) Anderson. Survivors include his father, Ernie Anderson and wife Beulah of Aurora, IL; his mother, Elaine Rodesiler and husband Don of San Diego, CA; his loving companion of 22 years, Randy Kalal of Lake Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Jennifer Anderson-Copeland and husband Mark of Bainbridge, OH and Casey Danielson and husband Eric of Iola, WI; one brother, Jeff Anderson and wife Mary of Yorkville, IL; three sisters, Pam Anderson and husband John of San Diego, CA; Leanne Herrington and husband Norm of Yorkville, IL; and Barbara Rodesiler of Lisle, IL; and two grandchildren, Emmett Ross Danielson and Clara Elaine Danielson of Iola, WI. Mr. Anderson proudly served our country with the United States Air Force. He retired from a career in education but still enjoyed coaching girls' softball, and basketball. In 2012, he received the Jefferson Award, a national award recognizing community service and volunteerism. He previously served as a board member for the Salvation Army and currently served as a board member for Camp New Hope. He enjoyed life on Lake Mattoon, helping on his grandfather's farm in Sheridan, IL, and cherished spending time with his family and friends. However, the light of his life was his grandchildren to whom he was known as "Poopah."
