Hermenegildo is survived by his beloved children; Adoracion Castro, Victor Castro, Elizabeth Ramirez, Gilberto Castro, Sandra Olvera, and Emmanuel Castro, his cherished grandchildren; Giselle Castro, Angelo Ramirez, Andrea Ramirez, Diego Castro, Leilani Castro, Antonio Olvera, Nina Olvera, Vincent Olvera, Alejandro Olvera, Jaqueline Castro, Claudia Castro, Christian Castro, and Thalia Castro, one special great-grandson, Ricardo Camargo, as well as countless other family and friends.
Born in Mexico, Hermenegildo moved to the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago where he would meet his wife of 53 years, the late Celia C. Castro. The two married in August of 1971 and quickly began building a life and family together. Hermenegildo was a man of quite strength with tremendous love for his family.
An evening wake will take place at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 2127 W 22nd Pl, Chicago, IL 60608, on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Services will conclude with a burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 S Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.
