

Hip Yee Tsang, age 88, passed away on June 19, 2026. Born on October 30, 1937, in Taishan, China, he lived a life marked by steady integrity and a deep commitment to providing for those he loved. A resident of Chicago, Illinois, Hip Yee carried himself with the quiet dignity of a man whose word could be trusted and whose work was done with care and pride.
He is survived by his wife, Lin Ying Chiu Tsang; his children, Manching (Nindat) Zhao, Chishing (Wing) Tsang, and Yipsing (Yong) Tsang; and his grandchildren, Ryan Tsang, Rachel Tsang, Matthew Zhao, Abigail Tsang, and Eleanor Tsang. He was preceded in death by his son, the late Kinpui Tsang.
A chef by trade and a true lover of food, Hip Yee found joy in the simple pleasures of a good meal and good company. He especially loved going out to eat in Chinatown, and he had a fondness for sweets that never left him. In the kitchen and beyond it, he was known for the honest way he lived and the hardworking spirit he brought to each day—qualities that shaped his home, his relationships, and the legacy he leaves behind.
