

Jerry Michael Pepper was born on January 16th, 1955, the second born of twin boys to John J. Pepper and Luella Pepper (Dory) in Vaughan MS. Jerry was the last born of 14 children.
After completing high school, Jerry joined the United States Army on August 28th, 1974. He served until being honorably discharged
on May 2nd, 1977. Thank you, Jerry, for your service and dedication to our country. He then moved to Chicago and began a career working at the United States Postal Service. It was also during this time that Jerry met and married Hattie. To this union, his twin daughters, Tracy and Stacy were born. Jerry continued working at the United States Postal Service until his retirement in [2002]. We will remember his dedication to hard work and organizational skills here.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Hattie Drake-Pepper, twin daughters Tracy Drake of Portland, OR., Stacy Drake-Alexander (Alejandro) of Chicago, IL., Four stepchildren: Darren Drake of Talluah, LA., Pamela Drake-Smith (Frederick) of Chicago, IL. and Yoshiyah Yisrael (formerly Kirby Drake) of Baltimore, MD.: eight sisters: Ethel Jean Jones of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Coleman of Hattiesburg, MS, Thelma Johnson of Ruleville, MS, Zelma Pepper of Kansas City, MO, Emma Jean Washington (Leon) of Ridgeland, MS, Rachel, Alice, and Linda Pepper, all of St. Louis, MO; one brother: Thomas Pepper (Marie) of Ridgecrest, CA; his beloved grandchildren Zora, Brent, Aliyana and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Pepper and Luella Pepper, three brothers, Curtis, James, and Otha Pepper, and a stepdaughter, Tamarah Drake. Just days before Jerry's passing, God called home his twin brother, John Pepper.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Monday, March 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402. A funeral service will occur on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM. A committal service with military honors will occur Monday, March 3, 2025, from 1:30 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.
