With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Joseph E. Zajac, who departed this life surrounded by family.
Born on July 16, 1941, Joe was the youngest and last surviving of the Zajac siblings—preceded in death by Josephine, Walter, Marian, and Stanley. He now joins them, along with his beloved wife, Ann (Brennan) Zajac, who passed away on April 26, 1990.
Joe was a strong, loyal, and deeply loving father to Christopher Zajac, Raymond Zajac and his wife Anna, and Aileen (Zajac) Gilpin and her husband John. He was the proud grandfather of Allison and Samantha Zajac, and Kaitlyn Gilpin, and a cherished great-grandfather of Jayla and Gianna.
Affectionately known as “Uncle JoJo” to many, he will be remembered for his quick wit, his stubborn but endearing spirit, and the fierce love he had for his family. He lived life on his own terms and left a mark on everyone who knew him.
His legacy of strength, humor, and resilience lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park, Stickney, IL 60402, from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass, share a good story, and remember Joe in your own way—with laughter, love, and maybe a little mischief.
