Lilia Doane

Lilia Doane, nee Cisneros Cervantes, age 94, passed away on July 10, 2026. Born on August 15, 1931, in Texas, Lilia was the daughter of Luis Cisneros and Debora Cervantes. A resident of Chicago, Illinois, she will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Lilia was beloved and cherished for the steady wisdom she carried and the sincerity with which she spoke—an honesty that was both grounding and comforting. She gave of herself with quiet generosity, offering care and consideration in ways that made others feel seen, valued, and supported.

Lilia worked as a Flight Attendant for Mexicana Airlines, a role that suited her composed presence and her thoughtful attention to people. In her work and in her daily life, she carried herself with dignity, and her example left an enduring impression on family and friends alike.

In 1949, Lilia married the late Paul Edward Doane. She was also preceded in death by her children, the late Barbara A. Doane and Paul G. Doane. Lilia’s family remained at the heart of her life, and her love continues through her grandchildren: Gilbert (Juana) Preciado, Richard Mendoza, Michael Mendoza, Anthony Mendoza, Christopher Mendoza, Cindy Mendoza, Erica Mendoza, and Steven Mendoza, as well as many great-grandchildren.

Lilia found enjoyment in simple pleasures and shared moments—visiting the casino, spending time at restaurants, and especially savoring favorite foods like tortas and chilaquiles. These everyday joys, shared in good company, reflected the warmth and appreciation she brought to life.

Visitation will be held at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on July 16, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Chapel Service will take place at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on July 17, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm; family and friends can gather at Mount Auburn Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Cemetery services will be held at Mount Auburn Memorial Park, Stickney, IL.
