To Grandma Mary,

I’m not really sure how to put all of this into words, but I’m going to try.

I miss you so much. Knowing that you’re gone and that I can’t see you anymore hurts more than I can explain. Not being able to go on our coffee runs or our secret battery runs just doesn’t feel the same. Sometimes when I pass by Panera, I still feel tempted to turn, thinking that you’re still here and need your coffee.

I’ll always remember the times I would come visit you, sit with you, and just talk about life and even just watch the football games (I never knew you liked football). We would laugh, talk, and enjoy the simple moments together. Those are memories I’ll hold onto forever.

You were one of the nicest people I have ever known. You wouldn’t hurt a soul, and you always had so much kindness in your heart. I truly believe everyone should try to be more like you. I know I will carry that part of you with me for the rest of my life.

As much as I wish you were still here, I’m happy knowing that you’re not in pain anymore. And I’m happy knowing that you’re with Grandpa Bob again. I know how much you missed him, and I know the two of you were inseparable. I like to think that you’re together again, watching over all of us.

I’m so grateful and honored that I got to be your first great-grandson. I’m especially grateful that I was able to be there for you and help you these past few years. I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.

I wish I could still call you and hear your voice. I still listen to your voicemails sometimes, just because hearing your voice makes me feel a little closer to you. I know it’s going to take time to get used to you not being here, but I’ll keep all of our memories close to my heart.

And I know that someday, I’ll see you again.

The best parts of me are because of her.

It’s hard to put into words what it means to lose the woman who helped shape your entire soul.

My grandma had a heart that gave everything and loved unconditionally. She was my original shopping buddy, my confidant, my favorite listening ear, and the warmest hug in the world. She always kept up with every detail of our lives and genuinely cared about the lives of my closest friends, treating them like her own. What started as childhood sleepovers at her house grew into unforgettable sleepovers with her amazing sisters in Spain, sleepovers at my house, and sweet, loving sleepovers holding her close at the end of her life.

She loved so hard, and at the end, that love was returned tenfold. Surrounded by family here, along with a constant flow of love, prayers, and messages from our family across Spain and Guatemala, she was so deeply cherished and transitioned so peacefully. I have no doubt my dog Xavi was right there by her side, gently guiding her home to the arms of my grandpa, her honey, and the rest of our family waiting on the other side.

Thank you, Grandma, for being the very best of me. You shaped so much of who I am, and I promise to carry your spirit, your warmth, and your legacy with me always. Te quiero mucho.

You were my best friend Grandma Mary. She was the most caring, loving and kindhearted person I knew. I will miss going to visit you and tell you all about my day and you telling me about your day. I will miss hearing you tell me how much you loved me and how I was your favorite, When I was with you, there was nothing I could do wrong in your eyes. I will also miss sharing laughs with you and seeing your face light up with a beautiful smile when I would come see you. I will miss you so so so very much, words can’t express how much I will miss you everyday. As I go through my journey in this life, I will cherish all the memories I have with you forever and keep them close in my heart always. I know it’s going to be hard to get over losing you but I will be strong because I was your strong girl. I will always look for you when I accomplish something and I will always remember that you are by my side with your comfort and guidance. I love you forever and always Grandma Mary🪽🤍.

as a sharing and caring  person.

Maria was such a warm and gentle presence. In the times I spent with her, she always made my family and I feel comfortable and welcome, as if we had known each other forever. I know she will be dearly missed, and will pray for her close friends and family as they walk through this great loss.

To my Mother-In-Law Mary Hayes- 

It has been my privilege to know you for the last 20 years. When Diane and I met, she did not hesitate to introduce me to her family—Tyler and you—and I always knew you were part of the package. From the very beginning, you made me feel welcomed and loved.
Every visit felt like a celebration as I continued to meet more of the family over the years. You were, and always will be, remembered as everyone’s Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and friend. Even in assisted living, your family and extended family continued to grow because people were naturally drawn to your warmth and kindness.
We all came to you for advice, comfort, and love. You stayed busy until the end with your social activities at Rock Run and, most importantly, spending time with family. You will be sorely missed, but you will always be loved and remembered.  
I am so glad that you are at peace and I am so proud to have been part of your life.

My mother, Maria Hayes, will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried , and the kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose presence brought comfort, guidance, and warmth to her family. Her love was steady, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. We hope she is at peace and getting all the coffee and kisses she wants. Her favorite people on earth love her deeply and will miss her more than words can say.  I know her favorite people in heaven, especially my father and her parents welcomed her with so much love. Though she will be deeply missed, the lessons she taught, the memories she created, and the love she poured into her family will live on always.  You asked me to make sure you got home and I did and am blessed to be your daughter.
