It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Soto III, who left this world on October 25, 2025, at the age of 47. A lifelong resident of Cicero, Illinois, Martin was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched every life he encountered.
Martin was born to Martin Soto Jr. and Angelina Soto and was the beloved brother of Vincent Rafael Soto. He is survived by his two sons, Giovanni Baez and Nathan Soto, and their mother, Marlene Soto, who together were the heart of his life. He also leaves behind his loyal German Shepherd, Riley aka his “Riley Bear”, his constant companion and best friend.
A proud graduate of Morton College, Martin earned two associate degrees—one in Liberal Arts (2003) and another in Criminal Justice (2005)—reflecting his lifelong curiosity and dedication to learning. His career path led him through Burke Beverage, Coca-Cola, Comcast and most recently to the Town of Cicero, where he served as a Rehabilitation Specification Specialist & Precinct Captain for ten years, known for his reliability, optimism, and care for the community he loved.
Those who knew Martin will remember him as clever, funny, and endlessly compassionate. He had a gift for making others laugh, lifting spirits even on the hardest days. He loved scary movies, hip-hop music, dancing, Puerto Rican and Italian cuisine, Chicago sports, video games, making a bomb potato salad, and of course, smack talking—but most of all, he loved making people feel seen, valued, and loved. He had a heart of gold and an energy that was larger than life—a presence you could feel before you even saw him. His laughter could fill a room; his kindness could fill your heart. Martin’s legacy is one of love, joy, and connection. He leaves behind memories that will keep us smiling, stories that will keep us laughing, and a light that will never dim.
There’s no replacing him. But if you listen closely—at a party, a family dinner, or maybe during a perfectly timed joke—you’ll still hear him. Because Martin never really leaves a room; he just moves to a better one.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Friends and family are invited to memorial service for Martin on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.
