Odilia B. Fernandez, 81, passed away on January 9, 2020. Odilia was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico on November 9, 1938 to her parents José María Ballesteros and Ana María Guttierrez, Ballesteros.

Odilia is survived by her husband Jose Roberto Fernandez, married 64 years. Their children Jose Roberto Jr.(Maria Soledad) Anna Lilia (Rigoberto) Ricardo (Gloria) Bertha Rosa (Francisco) Blanca Alicia. Grand kids: Jose Roberto III (Susana) Ricardo Daniel (Katherine) Fernando Alberto (Carleen) Jacqueline Gloria (Alex)Erica Monique, Erick Rodrigo, David Roberto, Odilia Jessica, Luis Enrique,Francisco Jesus. Ten Grandchildren and eight great grand Children.

Odilia’s greatest joy was the sun shining on her beautiful flowers. They brought so much happiness and vibrancy into her everyday life. Seeing all the flowers when she visited Hawaii was truly her paradise.

One of her favorite past times was watching baseball, particularly the Cubs, with the love of her life and they rarely missed a game.

She enjoyed her weekly gatherings where she cooked up a storm for her family and friends, making sure everyone was always well-fed and content.

When her grandchildren started arriving, they completed her life in an amazing new way, even more so when she became a great grandmother. Our lives have been made so much greater and we are truly blessed to have had such a strong, kind, loving woman as a wife, friend, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Sending my condolences to the entire Fernandez family. Mrs. Fernandez was always so welcoming to me when I came to visit her home and hang out with her daughters back when I was a teenager and worked at Rolis. Her cooking was amazing! And I still tell everyone how I felt that I was part of the family and a pseudo Mexican.

I’ll never forget the first time met the family. Jose and I met in high school and became best friends. He invited over to his home and I was immediately welcomed into the family and we all became one big happy family. Odilia (I’ll call her mom) accepted me as one of her own treated me as one of her own. I left Chicago but never forgot my family. I will miss you mom and your will be forever in my heart. Love you forever
