Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in honoring the life of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, and veteran, Peter James LaPorta, who entered eternal rest on July 17, 2025.

Peter is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Peter James Sr. and Dolores LaPorta, and his brother, Vincent LaPorta.

Peter served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He entered active duty in May 1967, trained and served as an Infantryman (11B), and was stationed with Battery B, 1st Battalion, 84th Artillery, 5th Infantry Division. He earned the following commendations for his service:

Army Commendation Medal

Vietnam Service Medal

Vietnam Campaign Medal

National Defense Service Medal

He was discharged honorably in December 1968 and continued his commitment to service with the Chicago Police Department, where he faithfully protected and served for 34 years before retiring as a detective.

He was the loving and devoted husband of Nora Ruth LaPorta, and a proud father to:

Jessica Bukaczyk (Ivan)

Cherished grandfather to:

Andrew, Isabel, Fabian, Tiffany, Samuel, Jacob, Fernando, Antonio, Miguel, Peter, Sofia, Gabriella, Victoria, Mychailo, Maria, Janine, Michael, and Justin

Great-grandfather to: Eleia Celine Izaguirre

He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a loyal friend to many.
