The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on June 17th, 2021 at Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Fr. Ricardo Castillo of St. Pius will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm-8:00 pm on
June 16th 2021 at Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Mount Auburn
Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being held by Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Rafael was born in Jose Maria Morelos stationed in Chinacates, Mexico on December 14th 1953.
He was welcomed by his mother Petra Sepulvedad and his father Ramiro Garcia. Being one of
the youngest of 9 siblings he joined his brother and sisters, Remedios, Reinalda, Aurelio,
Guadalupe, Juan, Rosario, Josefina, Hector, and Angelica Garcia Sepulveda.
Rafael came to the United States at the age of 17 to hope for a better life, where he then got his
GED to later discover that his hometown girlfriend was in the United States as well. From there
he continued his hard work dedicating 35 years at General Converting Inc. There he had built a
family of his own, where he was respected, loved, and cherished by all of his coworkers.
Rafael was married to Beatriz Herrera on December 14th, 1987; they were married for 35 years,
but together since 1977. They had spent 44 years of their lives together. Rafael loved his wife, he
took great care of her. He welcomed her children Oscar and Alma Herrera as if they were his
own. He loved them dearly, so much that he wanted to expand his family who he later welcomed
Hector, Elida, and Bruno Garcia.
Rafael enjoyed spending time with his family, he kept himself busy whether it was at work or
being with them. He enjoyed biking around his home, swimming at the Y.M.C.A, and taking
long walks along the trail at Turtle Lake. He took advantage of the time he had with his
grandchildren.
Rafael is survived by his wife Beatriz Herrera, his children Oscar and Alma Herrera, Hector,
Elida, and Bruno Garcia, his grandchildren Beatriz Garcia, Bruno Garcia, Calyx is Deroche, Caleb
Herrera, Hector Jr. Garcia, Nico Nunez, and Selena Herrera, and his grandchildren Alaiah and
Messiah.
Rafael is preceded in death by his father Ramiro Garcia, his mother Petra Sepulveda, his son
Rafael Torch, his grandson Claudio Cossio, and his brother Aurelio Garcia Sepulveda.
