"How very sad to hear this news! Rafael was such a wonderful man-"Grace under pressure";a true servant at Sidley. I can't count the times he "rescued"me in the conference center, even though he would be so busy. How he loved his family, always was making memories with them. Not a day would go by he didn't share a family story. He was the 1st person to introduce me to chipotle peppers and how I looked forward to the "Thursday tamales" he'd bring. He so enjoyed God's creation in nature as well-the beautiful sunrises we'd see and sometimes sunsets(overtime ). And,of course, the air show practices were such a thrill. May you lean on Jesus to heal you in this big void. 2 Corinthians 1:3&4. My love and prayers are with you all-Regina Sloane.

Rafael was an important and beloved member of our Sidley Chicago team. He was skillful at his craft and generous with his time. Rafael’s role allowed him to make a valuable contribution to many different aspects of our Firm’s work and to have a positive effect on so many of us over the years. I will recall most of all Rafael’s patience with me when it was clear I did not understand something and his calm, positive attitude when faced with a challenge. Rafael will be missed deeply. I extend my sympathies to Rafael’s family and particularly his children. Please know that your Dad made a difference for us. And thank you for sharing such special family pictures online. They warm our hearts. With sincere condolences, Teresa Harmon

Rafael was the person that always worked to make the office great for all. He was always pleasant and regardless of what crisis might arise, was always cool, calm, and professional. He was skilled, knowledgeable, and considerate. His love for his children, and his pride in them, was obvious in even short conversations. He was well loved and he will be missed.
