Richard A. Hargarten 1955-2019

Born on August 12, 1955 to Richard L. and Betty Hargarten. Beloved brother of Mary (Len Tyk), Stephen, Kathy (Art McNamara), David; Loving uncle of Celia (Caleb Howard), Chris, John, Katie; “Gruncle” of Chrissy and Kaylee; nephew and cousin of many.

Altar server, lector, catechist, former member of the famous St. Paul choir. St. Rita High School class of ’73. BA in English Literature, UIC class of ‘77, 20-year employee at The Calmark Group, Chicago. Author of My Father’s Thumbnail and The Tales of the Fat Man.

Richard spent his free time reading fantasy, science fiction and detective stories, enjoying classic radio & TV and pursuing various artistic endeavors. His sense of humor…..well, he could be funny, especially in the face of adversity. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
