Roy was born in Chicago, Illinois to Vincent and Juanita Calderon on April 16, 1932.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He served with the United States Army during the Korean War in 1952 and was honorably discharged. Throughout his life, he had many diverse and special traits including gymnastics, being a guitarist, and photographer. He was an avid fisherman and handcrafted numerous poles, flies, and lures.

He was an accomplished marble setter and bricklayer, being an active member with the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for over 50 years. Some of his work can be seen in the historical buildings in the City of Chicago such as the Water Tower and John Hancock building.

What was simply irreplaceable though was his sense of family, his core beliefs, and ideas. Togetherness was always the essential element, which bound our family together.

Roy is survived by all those who loved and cared for him. Which includes, but is not limited to, his wife Heydi Calderon. His son Mark Calderon and his wife, Aida. His son, Stephen Calderon. His daughters Charmaine Balcerzak and her husband, Richard. Jennifer Maayteh and her husband, Mike. Elisha Rodriguez and her husband, Edgar. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Eric, Victoria, Morgan, Matthew, Michael, Emily, Brandon, Ryan, Alice, and Vincent. He was a great-grandfather to Olden and Isaiah. He was a brother to his surviving siblings Esther, Frank, and Alfred.

A visitation for Roy will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL. Every time I was in Chicago for our Reunion and staying at Roy's house, we would go walking and reminisce about are old friends and the neighborhood of Mckinnley Park and our hobbies and many other things we did together. But the most important thing was spending QUALITY time with my brother Roy.
