Ruth Mary Jakala, nee Dever, 97, of Berwyn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 29. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Jakala, cherished mother of Carol Hanzlik (Ira) Chasnoff, dear grandmother of Joel (Dorit), Ari (Rebekkah), and Gabriel Chasnoff, and proud great-grandmother of Stav, Noam, Yuval, and Yonatan Chasnoff, Ruth was formerly married to the late Jim Hanzlik. Ruth was an excellent cook, known for her kolachkes. She loved gardening and was talented with needle and thread. Always busy, Ruth gifted her family with afghans, growth charts and embroidery. A toe tapper, Ruth loved to polka. Visitation will be held Sunday November 1, 2015, at Mt. Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, Illinois, from 2 to 7 pm, and internment will be Monday, November 2, at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice . -
