

Sandra Lynn Del Sarto was called home on her new journey, July 3rd, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on March 21st, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away at her home, where she enjoyed being a retired spirit, free to do all she could dream of doing.
Sandra was the loving daughter of the late Richard and Helen [nee Cech] Del Sarto. Granddaughter of the late Stanley and Mae Cech, and the late Jerry and Marie Del Sarto. Devoted sister to Gayle Del Sarto Pontillo and Richard (Cathy [nee Pawelczyk]) Del Sarto. Adoring Aunt to Debbie Pontillo, Richard (Elena [nee Bobysheva]) Pontillo, Michelle (Nick) Sigwalt, Meagan Del Sarto, and Melissa (Doug) Pierson. Great Aunt to Levi and Owen Sigwalt.
Sandy, with her innocent, child-like, enormous heart, was an angel of love, kindness, and generosity. Everyone she knew or touched with her smile and laughter loved her. All were blessed to have been a part of her life. She gave a piece of her heart and spirit whenever it was called upon. Sandy will always be remembered.
Sandy is a 1973 graduate of Morton West High School. She went on to work for the United States Postal Service for over 42 years. During that time, she served our country by enlisting in the United States Navy in March of 1987. She did active duty and went on serving as a reservist for 20 years. Sandy received the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal and was promoted to Navy Petty Officer 1st Class in September of 1996. She went on to be promoted to Chief Petty Officer.
Sandy loved her cocker spaniel, her partner for life, Shannon, who will meet her at the rainbow bridge. All the family above will welcome her home. Always remember her smile, holding her glorious life as a reminder of all you are blessed with.
A visitation for Sandra will be held on Monday, July 21st, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402. A funeral service will occur on Monday, July 21st, 2025, at 1:30 PM. A committal with military honors will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 S Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.
