Sandra was born in Chicago on September 14, 1946, to Gerald “Pat” and Lela Barr. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunt, Colleen “Cookie,” and brother-in-law, Kenneth.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Martin J. Kolar, of Melrose Park; her son, Marcus (Samantha) Kolar; and her cherished grandchildren, Jack and Keira Kolar, all of Villa Park, Illinois. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout the country.
Sandra graduated from East Leyden High School in 1964. Sandy was a trained beautician, and also an avid dancer and fashionista. After her son was born, Sandy became the quintessential stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Sandy could always be counted on to chaperone field trips, make all of the neighborhood kids’ Halloween costumes, lead a troop of Cub Scouts, and throw the best backyard volleyball parties. Because of her love of fitness, Sandy was an avid skier and later became a certified Yogi at The Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago.
