The mountains,
I become part of it . . .
The herbs, the fir tree,
I become part of it.
The morning mists, the clouds, the gathering waters,

The wilderness, the dew drops, the pollen . . .
I become part of it.

She was a second mom to me during a few years while I was growing up.  I will never forget her smile, certain dance moves, sharing a Chardonnay, having an extra ashtray in the garage, and her chili - coleslaw.  She was truly a classy lady, stay lovely in heaven my dear aunt.

Shirley was always a great friend to me growing up, and later became friends with my Mom when they worked at Dr. Farhi's office, together. I will definitely miss her!  I remember when she Ann, and Bernard lived in that house in River Grove.  She was such a cleanliness freak!  Every time Bernard or I dirtied something or spilled something, we'd look at one another and say, "Shirley, Shirley,Shirley," as though Shirley was going to be mad at us, but she never was.  She was a very easygoing human being. Shirley, Shirley, Shirley........I will miss you, miss you, miss you! Love, Diane

I was her biggest fan and she was mine, but that is how she felt about all of her grandkids and great grandkids and how we feel about her!! I am so thankful to have you as a grandma and blessed to call you my friend. I will miss our talks and days out with wine. How you would always ask me if I have enough money for the tolls even though I got an iPass 15 years ago, and every how everytime I would leave your condo you would stand at the doorway and wait for the elevator to come and blow me a kiss and a wave goodbye. 
My gram I will miss you always.

Typical phone conversation: 
Me - "Hey Shirley its Alec how it going?"
Shirley  -  "Oh great, we went to the boat today and now your mother is cooking dinner"  
Me -  "Nice, did you win?"  
Shirley  - "No but we had fun and later we are going to watch a movie.  Are you in the car now?" 
Me -  "Yes, driving home from work"  
Shirley -  "OK, I'll get your mom.  Ann it's your son"
Ann - "which one?"
Shirley  -  "They both sound the same, I think its Bernard"

Always loved her smile and that look in her eyes.

Our condolences to Theresa and Shirley's family. May God comfort you all during this difficult time. She is now safely home.

Shirley was like a grandmother to me, always being Granny's plus one. I feel blessed that the last time spent with Shirley was a spontaneous visit, which resulted in lots of laughs because of her quick wit!

When I think of Shirley, I remember her as always having a beautiful smile on her face.  It's almost as if I can't picture her any other way...  She had a great sense of humor, and will be surely missed.

Paul, my kids, and I all enjoyed the many Arizona visits from Mom and Shirley. It was always fun to have her here ~ we had many good times together. And while more than half my life has been spent in Arizona, my memories of Auntie Shirley go back about 60 years. I still clearly remember times at her Oaklawn house with my Uncle and 'big' cousins Gerry and Doug. The house was small but that didn't stop her from having company and hosting backyard family parties. I remember her energy and her authority - yep, even as a kid I remember thinking I better listen when she says something! When I became an adult, I got to know and experience her delightful, warm smile, laughter and wit, and to enjoy relaxing with her and a glass of white wine :)  I'm thankful, too, for the times on the phone - whenever I called my mom, Shirley often answered and it was our time to talk.  I'm thankful for her love. We will miss her very very much.  Karen

For as long as I've known Shirley, she has been a loving person. When I would see her at family gatherings, I could always count on her planting a big kiss right on my lips, sometimes right after a sip of wine too!  Shirley & Anne always dressed so fancy, cute & classy.  You could usually find them with a glass of wine, Shirley with a white wine and Anne with a red wine.  Some of the moments I cherished most over the years were when Anne & Shirley would take me out to dinner for my birthday.  I would have these two very special ladies all to myself.  At the dinner table Shirley and Anne would share stories and sometimes the story telling became competitive. It was so much fun!  I learned to listen attentively and there was so much wisdom to take in from them both. They had great motherly advice.  Shirley wasn't always filled with long conversations but the look in her eyes would let me know that she cared.  She had such a caring smile.  After birthday dinners, we always walked together, Shirley on one arm & Anne on the other.  I felt so special and loved. Sometimes I would forget how fragile Shirley was, giving her hugs and actually hearing her gasp for air. Sorry Shirley! I said every time I did that.  I learned that I took this thing called a Bear Hug too far.  Over the years I began to take it easy on poor Shirley.  With each hug or a kiss I gave Shirley, I wanted her to feel how much she was loved. She always made sure I felt loved too. I'm going to miss her so much. Love you Shirley, Danny Bell... <3
