Thomas Clark Benson, the eldest son of Lester and Mary (Tomorsky) Benson, passed away January 19, 2022. He was born September 28, 1945 in Muskegon, Michigan. He grew up there and attended Muskegon Heights High School. Afterward he attended and graduated from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. While there, he had the opportunity to study abroad. He chose to study in Erlangen, Germany for about six months.
Soon after graduation, he was drafted into the Army. He served at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. He spent his two years serving in the Nuclear Medicine clinic at Brooke Army Medical Center.
Afterward he worked several companies including State Farm Insurance, Time-Life, Amoco (BP), and freelance work as a technical writer.
He enjoyed music, especially classical music and collected many CD’s and LP’s. As a young man he also enjoyed running. Throughout life his faith in Jesus Christ was most important to him.
Until the Alzheimer’s gradually robbed him of his personality, he had a great sense of humor- never malicious. He loved puns especially and liked to make people laugh.
In 1978 he married Mildred (Swanson) Benson, who he met at Moody Church in Chicago. They have two daughters Karen Joy Benson and Elizabeth Ann Benson, both of Chicago. He is survived by two brothers: Timothy Benson and John Benson (Vicki) both of Muskegon, Michigan, and a sister-in-law Ruth Ann Ashman (George) of Forest Park, Illinois, three nieces and one nephew.
