Tommie W Jones

Loving wife of the late Terry Jones. Loving mother of Tami (Scott) Vrbancic and Kristy (Dan) Labriola. Dearest grandmother of Hannah, Jacob, Joshua, Sophia, and Lucas. Dearest daughter of the late Fred L. and Majel V. Davis, fond sister of the late Betty (Denny) McKinney, late Glenda (Tom) Maston, Fred (Peggy) Davis, George (Kathy) Davis, and Connie (Joe) Gildein, dear aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews, and dear mom to her cherished dog, Lacey.

Born in Kenvir, KY on January 31, 1954, Tommie was one of six siblings and was a twin to her dear sister and best friend, Connie. Tommie became a resident of Chicago in 1963 when her parents left Kentucky to pursue employment and assist their eldest daughter with her young children. It was in the neighborhood of Pilsen that Tommie met the love of her life, the late Terry Michael Jones, and married him on May 6th, 1972. Tommie was an excellent homemaker and devoted mother to her daughters who she loved and cherished more than anything. She had great taste in music and loved Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Elvis, Motown classics, and solid gold oldies. She was an amazing seamstress who crafted award-winning Halloween costumes for her family and was an excellent cook who loved making her specialty dishes. Her favorite thing in the world was making great memories with her family, and her happiest years were spent enjoying her grandchildren, celebrating the holidays, and attending summer festivals. She loved to laugh and possessed a genuine southern charm that won the hearts of all who knew her. She was a gentle mom, aunt, and grandmother who possessed an extreme amount of strength and will to survive. "Never give up" are the words that she and her husband Terry both lived by, and it was her wish that her family always remember that in their times of challenge. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, family, and friends, but is now at peace and reunited with her husband and loved family who have gone before her.

A memorial service will be held for Tommie on Friday, January 7th, 2022 at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 S Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Tommie's memory.
