Aljosie Josephine Larkins

Aljosie Josephine Larkins was born on December 4, 1942, in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, to Corrine Galloway and Joseph King, both of whom preceded her in death. After graduating from High, she pursued higher education at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she earned a degree in Business Administration. Her education helped lay the foundation for a life defined by hard work, perseverance, and service.

Throughout her professional life, Aljosie built a distinguished career and ultimately retired from both Verizon and the State of Georgia EPA. She took great pride in providing for her family, building a meaningful life, and creating a lasting legacy for the generations who followed her.

Aljosie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie James Larkins, who was her husband of 62 years at the time of his death. Their life together was an important part of her story and the family legacy they created.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Gregory Larkins (Camille), Lanona Larkins-Jones (Errol), and Alicia Larkins.

Her grandchildren include Cherelle Morris (Devin), Stephonn Shearron, David Q. Larkins Jr., Daytonya Larkins, Chelsea Smith (Dontavius), Christopher Larkins, Steven Smith, Uriah Larkins, Issac Larkins, Adam Phillip Larkins-Roseberry Sr. (Amber), and Allen P. Larkins-Roseberry, Sr. (Kathleen)

She is lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Madison Morris, Marleigh Morris, Devin Morris, Meadow Morris, Lyric Larkins, Aria Larkins, Allen Larkins II, Adam Phillip Larkins-Roseberry Jr., Astin Dior Larkins, Christian Isaiah Smith, Chloe Iyanna Smith, and Cade Isaac Smith.

Aljosie was also blessed with an extended family through her stepchildren, Michelle Larkins-Gaskin (Paul), Michael Larkins (Katarina), Christopher Larkins (Gloria), and the late David Q. Larkins (Elaine).

As the oldest of 14 children, Aljosie held a special place within her family and shared a lifelong bond with her brothers and sisters. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings James Wise, John Wise, Barbara Wise Mitchell, Warrine Hagans Wilson, Paris Hagans Rodgers, Micheal Newsome, Glen Newsome, Carolyn Newsome, and Anthony Newsome.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Eugene Warren Hagans, Bernard Carrington Wise, Constance Dowdy, and Arnold Newsome.

Among her siblings, Aljosie shared an especially deep connection with her sister, Warrine Hagans Wilson. Their sisterhood was shaped by a lifetime of shared memories, family experiences, love, and a bond that remained meaningful throughout Aljosie’s life.

Aljosie also held tremendous love and affection for her nieces and nephews, including Stacey Reed, Quinton Hagans, Jaime Wilson, Gareon Merrit, and Dante Hagans. They, along with her siblings and extended family, held a special place in her heart.

Among the many relationships Aljosie treasured throughout her life, she also shared a deep and special bond with her cousin, Robert Watts. The love, memories, and connection they shared were deeply meaningful to her.

Although her earthly journey has ended, Aljosie’s story will continue through the lives she touched. Her presence will remain in the memories shared around the family table, in familiar sayings and stories, in laughter and tears, and in the traditions passed from one generation to the next.

Her family will remember the woman who helped shape their lives, the strength she carried throughout her journey, and the love that connected generations of her family. As the oldest of 14 siblings, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished member of her family, Aljosie leaves behind a legacy far greater than words can fully express.

On the morning of August 27, 2026, Aljosie departed this life surrounded by the familiarity and comfort of home. Her family now honors a life that began on December 4, 1942, and celebrates the 83 years they were blessed to have her with them.

It was Aljosie’s wish to have her funeral service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person may view the full service remotely via Zoom.
