Pastor Arthur Lee Jarman, Sr. was born January 7, 1950, to the late Reverend Eugene Jarmon, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Jarmon.
Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rising Star Baptist Church in Flat Creek, Alabama. In 1981, he received his minister’s license under the leadership of Bishop Naaman Andrews, Sr. of Morning Star Church of God. Upon Bishop Naaman Andrews, Sr. gaining his wings, Arthur Lee Jarman, Sr. became pastor of Morning Star Church of God in Birmingham, Alabama in March 1998.
Mr. Arthur L. Jarman, Sr. graduated from Dora High School and attended Jefferson State Community College. In 1971, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served until 1973.
While he was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, he was not only a solider, but he was also a boxer and a chef for the General. In the late 1970’s, he joined the Irondale Police Department and served his community with dignity and honor.
On July 17, 1972, he received a medal and signed certificate from President Richard Nixon for heroism and courageousness for saving a woman drowning in a lake. The award received was the Navy and Marine Corps medal for his bravery and selflessness.
He was a man of many talents such as a radio host, coal miner and a bongo player just to name a few. His acts of love, compassion, kindness was undeniable; to know him was to love him.
After his honorable discharge, he began working at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He worked as a dialysis technician until his retirement in 2003. After his retirement, he became a full time Pastor and served his church and his community with his whole heart.
On November 30, 1973, he was joined in holy matrimony to Thelma Montgomery. On this year of 2023, they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Proceeding him in death are his parents, Reverend Eugene Jarmon, Sr. and Mary Jarmon; sisters, Barbara Jarman and Linda Jarman and brother, Eugene Jarmon, Jr.
Pastor Arthur leaves his legacy to his wife, Thelma Jarman; two children, Antionette Jarman and Elder Arthur Lee Jarman, Jr. (Jim Rice, III); two grandchildren, Kaitlin LaShae Jarman and Kayla LaShun Belcher and one great-grandchild, Kyrie Stokes. He also leaves his siblings, Mary Brown, Louella (Jill) Kelley, Willie Jean Johnson, Ike Jarman, Sr. and Bennie Miles; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and family friends.
The Celebration of Life for Pastor Arthur Lee Jarman, Sr. will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 10:00AM in The Fairview Suite at Horis A. Ward-Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
