Betty experienced much loss in her life; she has been reunited with those loved ones in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hubert Knight and her three sons, Red, Sam, and Tim. Several of her many siblings (Jerry, Paul, Ray, Mark, David, and Barbara) preceded her in death. She also lost one daughter-in-law, Sylvia.
Betty left behind many family members who are mourning her death, but also celebrating the full and long life that she had. She is survived by her 4 grandchildren (Ashley, Hayden, Carley, and Chance), 6 great grandchildren (Abby, Libby, James, Callan, Maddie, and Naomi), daughters-in-law Sheryl and Cathie, and great sons-in-law John and Joel. She also has several surviving brothers and sisters: Mike, Linda, Joan, Debra, Jackie, Bonnie, and Robin.
Betty was born on August 30th, 1934, in Whitehouse, Florida and raised in the Metro Atlanta area. She graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1953 and married Hubert on May 1, 1954.
She worked as a secretary for Georgia Power Company before staying home with her boys. Once they were older, she worked in their school office, in textile marketing, and most recently as a bus monitor for Newton County Schools after her official retirement.
Betty’s faith in Jesus and her love for her family were the cornerstones of her life. She had a positive attitude all her days.
Betty relished family gatherings, holidays, and preparing meals for her loved ones. She was known for sending heartfelt cards embellished with handwritten messages and stickers. Her love was always apparent in her notes.
She enjoyed boating and she, Hubert, and family spent a lot of time on the lake. She loved poetry and had an affinity for C.S. Lewis. Betty liked going to yard sales to find little treasures. She was an avid gardener; Betty had an especially green thumb that could root any little bit of cutting. Her yard and home were always full of plants and flowers.
Betty will be greatly missed not only by her family, but also by her church community at Believers Fellowship.
