

Ms. Dorothy Jean Crumbley Idlett was born the second child of the late Johnnie and Callie Crumbley on August 27, 1939. She entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 20, 2010.
Dorothy began life attending their family’s home church, Tallahatta CME Church, in Campbell, Alabama. She was baptized in 1948 at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida by the deceased Rev. S.L. Badger.
She attended Jacksonville, Florida public schools and was a member of the 1957 class of Stanton High School.
She was united in holy matrimony in 1957 to Willie James Idlett . Their union included daughter Susan, to that union they were blessed with six additional children: Patricia Ann, Jacqueline Marie, Daryl Eugene, Adriane Denise, Willie James, Jr. and Andre’ Jerome.
Dorothy worked at Willie Smith’s Drug Store located in the black Mecca Business District of Jacksonville Florida. She also worked at both Riverside Hospital and Baptist Hospital, also in Jacksonville, FL. In 1968 Dorothy and Willie relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Dorothy found an opportunity as a Nurses’ Aid at Grady Memorial Hospital in 1969 where she remained until her retirement in 1996. In 1976 she joined First Baptist Church on Gresham Rd. in Atlanta, she finally moved her membership to her current church home, Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Conley, Georgia in 1990 .
Dorothy was well loved and many times considered the life of the party. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and not a day will pass when someone does not have a smile on their face from an encounter they had with Ms. Dorothy Jean Crumbley Idlett. She had a quick wit and could always give you a little saying to carry you on your way.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Callie Crumbley, eldest son Daryl Eugene Idlett (Karen) and brother James E. Crumbley. Idlett, Sisters: Alberta Jones, Johnnie Mae McKennon (Roy), Carrie Mae Wells, Shirley C. Robinson, Harriett E. Bailey, Brothers: Bobby A. Crumbley (Frances), Perry G. Crumbley and Milton A. Crumbley, Sisters in Law: Charlie Mae Robertson (Orange Park, FL.), Annie Doris Pullings (Kokomo, IN.), Grandchildren: Shimel Brown (Natasha), Harry Cannon, Antoine Idlett, Renequa Idlett, Kristina Johnson, Stephanie Brown, Brandon Cannon (Portia), Daryl E. Idlett, Jr. (Charmaine), Antonio Richmond, Jr., Terrence Richmond, Sheree Wright, Ashley Graham, Taylor Idlett, Jada Idlett, Eric Idlett, Great-Grand Children: Danielle Baker, Daysha Baker, Kamyron Johnson, Briana Idlett, Ca’Shaun Crenshaw, Daryl Idlett, III, Brandon Cannon, Jr., Jamarius Cannon, Darius Idlett, Skylhar Davis, Saaliyah Brown, Serenity Davis, Shiloh Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Friends of Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday November 26, 2010 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
