Ernest Gay Drake

Ernest G. Drake, Jr., 72, passed away Sunday, August, 20 in Stockbridge, Ga. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Arlene (Jones) Drake; his children Julie A. Drake, Deborah (Dwayne) Meenach, James M. Drake, and ; his sister Mrs. Erion (Drake) Starker; Step-sons Mark Jones, Mike Jones, and Jeff Jones and daughter-in-law Rhonda Jones; five grandchildren including Michael and Matthew Jones; Drake Meenach, Mailande Meenach, and Colton Meenach; along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest (Mailande) Drake, Sr,; Mrs. Virginia (Moore) Drake; his brother Thomas E. Drake; one son Michael C. Drake. Born and raised in Meridian, MS, He graduated from Meridian High School and studied at Mississippi State University, later relocating to Stockbridge, GA. He was an active member at Liberty Baptist Church where He loved helping others and serving in the church as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and playing musical instruments. Ernie volunteered at Laurel Park Nursing/Rehabilitation Home where he played music every week. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsmen. His love for the Lord and his family will be remembered by many.

Services will be held at Horis Ward Funeral Home, Wednesday, Aug 23, 2017, 5-8p. A memorial service will be held at Horis Ward on Thursday, Aug 24, 2017, at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in Ernie's name to Lake Forest Ranch, attn. Rich Malone, 5326 Lake Forest Rd, Macon, MS 39341.
