

Geddes was born in Metter, GA on March 17, 1919 to the late Elrie and Mary Floyd. As a high school graduate, he was enlisted into the United States Army and served as a World War II General Services Engineer. During his enlistment, Geddes earned the honor of receiving Service, Good Conduct, and WWII Victory Medals. As a veteran, he was employed as an engineer by Chevron Oil Company before retiring after 44 years of service. Additionally, in 1937 he became the first state-licensed school bus driver in Georgia history. In his leisure time, Geddes became an expert in carpentry, landscaping, as well as horticulture. He also occupied numerous lay positions in Methodist and Baptist churches.
In addition to his parents, Geddes was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Ola Bob Smith-Floyd; as well as his latter wife, Mrs. Mildred Elliott Hardin Floyd and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Judith Starr Floyd. He is survived by one son, Edgar Franklin Floyd; grandchildren, Angelyn Shelnutt (Phillip), Graham Floyd (Cristen), and Truett Floyd (Morgan); and great-grandchildren, Lane Shelnutt, Camille, Paisley, Robert, Eleanor, Henry, Charlotte, and Clara Floyd.
A private interment will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Georgia. There will be a graveside memorial service in celebration of Mr. Floyd’s life for all to attend as soon as it can be safely scheduled.
