

Gloria was born on July 21, 1939, at Crawford Long Hospital in downtown Atlanta. She was the eldest of four sisters and a devoted daughter. Gloria graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1957 and married Bobby Hudgins, the love of her life, later that same year. Known affectionately as "Glo," she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, prayer partner, and friend. Gloria and Bobby shared 68 years of marriage and raised seven children together.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Hudgins; her five children and spouses: Robert (Leslie), Andrew (Denese), Mary (Chad Balicki), Rebekah (David Vepraskas), and Saralynne Hudgins.
"Nana" was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren: Luke, Amanda (Daniel Collins), Mark (Heather), Hannah (Cooper Gray), Caleb, James, Mae, Lance, Audrey, Sloane, Gabby Balicki, Jack, Bodie, and Sam Vepraskas. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Fiona, Adelaide, and Blaire Hudgins, and Julia and John Collins. Gloria is also survived by her precious sisters: Carole Tweedy and Teddi Holt
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Elaine Moore; her sister, Beth Switzer; and her sons, David and Michael Hudgins.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Gloria enjoyed gardening, a love of horses and showing champion dogs. She was passionate about serving others and dedicated countless hours to volunteer and political work throughout her life. Gloria was a proud and patriotic American and loved her country greatly. After her children were grown, she became an accomplished and gifted tax preparer with H&R Block, where she faithfully served clients for more than 20 years. Gloria never missed an opportunity to pray, connect with others, share her faith, and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Road, Conyers, Georgia 30094, on Friday morning, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. The family is grateful for the care provided by the staff of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home – Fairview Chapel as they are assisting with funeral arrangements.
More than anything, Gloria would want you to know that she loved you, and that Jesus loves you.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Gloria Hudgins to Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child.
