Henry Eugene Childress

Henry (Gene) Childress AKA Buddy was born August 20, 1931 in Cuthbert Georgia to Jessie Melton and Carlton Clyde Childress. Passed away peacefully September 23, 2026 in Eatonton Georgia.

Gene was raised in Cuthbert Georgia graduated high school 1948 and graduated Southern College of Pharmacy June 1953.

After graduating he joined the army and served in the medical field for two years. He moved to Atlanta where he met his wife Dolores and married March 1954 for 69 years.

Gene was a dedicated Pharmacist for 53 years and retired in 2006. He cared deeply for all of his customers and coworkers and they him also.

He attended church from a very early age if the doors were open he was there. He brought that into his marriage and raised his family in church. He was a very devout Christian

His main hobby was his family but he did love a good Atlanta Braves or Georgia Bulldog game. He also loved gardening and working in his yard.

Proceeded in death by his wife of 69 years Dolores Childress, his parents CC and Jessie Childress and 9 siblings.

Survived by his children Teresa (Frank) Settambrino, Linda (Jeff) Taylor, Alan Childress. Grandchildren Dwayne Tiller and Dustin Taylor. Great grand Aleczandra (Jake) Hammond, Dalton (kylie) Tiller, Dillan Tiller. Great great grands Dayten, Hunter, Ryelee, Tatum Parker Jo and Kimber.

Also many cousins nieces nephew and there families he loved.

He lived his life peacefully and with dignity.

Family and Friends are invited to the "Celebration of Life" service to be held at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 on Monday, September 28, 2026. Visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 01:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 01:00 p.m..
