Henry led a very full life. Born in Madison, GA during the Great Depression, his life was often challenging, but filled with great memories he loved to share with his sons. He left home at 17 to join the Air Force where he served for four years. During this time he was deployed overseas during the Korean War. More importantly, during this time, he met the young Mary Lou Bowen who would capture his heart and his life through over 64 years of marriage.
After his military service, he worked running a gas station and auto repair shop in Niagara Falls, NY as he was always mechanically gifted. He subsequently moved to the Atlanta area (Forest Park) where he first worked for Lockheed until his brother, Sam, shared that he could make more money driving a truck. He spent the next 40+ years as a proud Teamster driving primarily for Roadway. He retired as a former Shop Steward and multi-million-mile safe driver. He stayed active and involved in the lives of those he loved right up until the end.
He was the husband to his beloved wife, Mary Lou, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his three sons, Gene (LaDonna), Jim (Joanna), and Bill (Kimberly). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
