Herbert A Britt Sr., age 89, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. He was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of Reuben Nelson Britt and Ruth Ewing Britt. Herbert was employed for over forty years with the Atlanta Gas Light Company and was a member of McDonough First United Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters Deborah Anne and Terri Lee Britt, Stepson John Scott Lindsey, sister Martha Britt Ford and brothers James and Buddy Britt. Herb is survived by his wife Judy Scott Britt, son Herbert A. Britt Jr. (Lonnie) and his wife Cheryl. Step-daughter Laura Lindsey Long, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and his sister, Helen Britt Laughlin. Herb and Judy were active members of Shag Atlanta Dance Club.
A visitation for Herbert will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00 PM. A Celebration of his Life memorial service will occur Friday, April 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Alec Ward. A graveside inurnment will occur Friday, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
Herbert will be laid to rest in Fairview Memorial Gardens, 176 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
