Hershel Washington Johnson, age 97, of Stockbridge, passed away Saturday, August8, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Fairview Church of Christ at 1pm. Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stockbridge.
Hershel was an Army veteran where he served in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the Medical Corps. He was a master gardener, fisherman and all around hard worker. A natural caregiver he was loved his family and took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by: wife, Alice Johnson of 44years, children; Sharon Johnson Rice, Vickie Johnson Koon & husband, Billy Koons, Zandra Maddox, Valerie & Ray Warren and Hershel “ Emery” & Nicole Johnson, 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by first wife, Esma Mae Johnson, son, Tommy Goddard and son-in-law, Jack Rice.
