Isaacson was born in Cayes, Haiti on February 22, 1973. He was a gentle and jovial child, always surrounded by friends and laughter. Growing up in the South of Haiti, he had to overcome many obstacles before developing his natural talent as a gifted singer. He emigrated to the United States in 1993, enrolling in Florida International University, and graduating with a B.A. degree in Nursing. Encouraged by faculty, he pursued voice studies at Miami Music Works and the University of Miami. He performed in Miami, Atlanta, Boston, New Jersey, and New York. In Florida, he won several TV competitions as well. In December 2011, he was the first Haitian operatic tenor to take center stage at Carnegie Hall in the performing arts center’s 120 year history. He was a registered nurse. A polyglot, he was fluent in Haitian Creole, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. He played piano and guitar as well.
Isaacson is preceded in death by his father, Isaac Buteau, and his mother, Marie Anide Buteau. He is survived by his siblings, Laure Magalie Buteau (Frantz), Sheila Buteau, Jules Buteau, and Emmanuel Buteau (Danielle), as well as nieces, Ketia, Evangelina, Emmanuella, Julisha, and Rosie Karim, and one nephew, Daniel. He also had many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, in the Fairview Chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Rd., Stockbridge, GA 30281. Ketia Buteau, Evangelina Buteau, and Emmanuella Buteau will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Rd., Stockbridge, GA 30281.
His family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Fairview Chapel for a viewing prior to the service.
