

Jack served in the United States Navy for four years of active duty (1956 - 1960) as an Air Controller at the Naval Air Station in Atsugi, Japan; after which he he continued to serve two years (1960 - 1962) in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Jack would go on to dedicate thirty-nine years of service as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport, retiring September 3, 1996.
At the age of 37, Jack married the love of his life, Christine K. Harris, on February 14, 1974. He instantly became a dad to her two children. He and Chris enjoyed traveling around the world, and especially their motor home life with the Mountaineers Club. Jack was an avid photographer of their travels and of family. He would often say, "just one more picture!" Jack and Chris were married 41 and a half years before her death in 2016.
In addition to his parents, Hughie and Evelyn White, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Harris and his wife, Christine K. White. He is survived by one brother, Johnny White (Delores) of Winterville, GA; one daughter, Melissa Branch (Brent) of Morrow, GA; two grandchildren, Kristy McCurdy (Van) and J.D. Branch (Kelley); three great grandchildren, Trey McCurdy (Taryn), Elijah Branch, and Jayda Branch; two great-great grandchildren, Indigo McCurdy and Arrow McCurdy; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.

A visitation of family and friends will be held for Jack on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday at 2:00 PM, immediately following visitation. Services will conclude with a graveside committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
