Jason joined Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Conley, Georgia on June 23, 1985 where he remained a member.
Jason graduated from Dunwoody High School in DeKalb County Georgia in 2000 where he excelled in sports and played varsity basketball. He went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University and later transferred and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (A&M) in Huntsville, Alabama. Jason was well loved by many students and faculty and enjoyed his time while matriculating there. It was here where he joined his beloved Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated, ΚΑΨ, and remained active with his fraternity brothers.
After college, Jason went to work at the Bank of America Operations Center in Kennesaw, Georgia and advanced to Senior Collector. Jason was well liked by his colleagues who remembers him by the respectable manner and positive attitude he always carried .
We honor Jason’s life today by remembering the wonderful bright light that he spread on the lives of so many. Anyone who knows Jason would know that he was a great listener, and was always willing to help in another’s time of need. Jason was undoubtedly an energetic spirit that brought happiness wherever he went. His easy-going demeanor and charismatic personality made it natural for others to gravitate toward him and feel the sincere and genuine care and love that he held for others.
Jason leaves to cherish his fond memories, his beloved father, Joel Smith, dedicated stepmother, Jacque Smith, brother, Rashad Smith, sister–in-law Monika Smith, grandmother, Annie Smith, aunts, Rev. Dr. Viola Mitchell-Clay (Walter), Lovie Bernard (Rainford), Uncles, Watt Smith, John Smith, Joseph Smith (Susie), Raymond (Gloria), Ebrana Jones and Oscar Jones (Lynn), a niece, Iycis Allonja Smith, nephew Naseam Arandae Smith, loving cousins, Akida Shephard (Cedric), Zavin Smith, Ronald Bernard, Ayisha Clay, Kimberly Smith, Pamela Bernard, Adrian Smith, Cornelius Smith, Ashley Smith, Decembre Smith, Tavarus Jones (Sheila), Oscar Williams (Chanda), Andre Williams, Theresa Williams, Temeka Roddy (Nathaniel), Deidre Jones, great aunts, Cora Smith and Jimmie Smith, devoted family members Algie (Bo Jack) Glasco and Roosevelt Raybon, beloved fraternity brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 3430 Bouldercrest RD, Conley, GA 30288 with Rev. J. Douglas Childers officiating. Interment will follow at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood, GA. The family will receive friends Friday, March 5, 2010 from 5 to 7 PM at Horis A.
