Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.  Mr. Jimmy Hyde was truly a gem.  He was admired by all those in our blacksmith guild and especially by my husband, Jim and son, Nicholas. They both learned so much from Jimmy. He was such a pleasure to be around.  He will be missed!

I was sorry to hear the passing of Jimmy.  He and I worked together for Sherwin Williams at the West End Store in Atlanta.
His dad, Donal helped me get the job, and
was a good friend of mine. Thoughts and

As a new believer, I remember praying for a Godly church friend for my husband.  God answered with Jimmy Hyde.  Two kindred souls in many ways.  So thankful for those "growing up days" at Ellenwood.  Often we look back with regret of what we should have done, but blessings come in unusual places sometimes.  Knowing Jim and Susan Hyde has always been looked upon as one of our greatest blessings.  Jim will be greatly missed, but we know he is resting in peace.  Love and Many Prayers

SO much of my youth and childhood involved Jimmy Hyde. I remember him taking my Dad hunting for Civil War relics. I remember when I got my first car, he checked it out to make sure it was running right. Jay always got a kick out of hanging out at the Hydes. Susan and Jimmy always took me in at Camp meeting time, so I wasnt homeless!! He always represented what a Good Christian Man was supposed to be like. God First, then Family then Church/Job. Heavens gain is certainly our loss.

It is so very sad to learn of Jimmy's passing. He was such a part of our Dad's (Stanley Strickland) work life. Our dad was a home builder and later maintenance man at a large downtown Atlanta hotel. Jimmy and he often did business together during Daddy's active working years. Later during Daddy's retirement he'd go to Jimmy's paint store at least once a week and sit with many other retirees and customers, talking politics and baseball. Daddy brought cakes and other baked goods to set on Jimmy's coffee counter. Our mom (Lillian Strickland), being an avid baker, would bake cakes and other baked goods for Jimmy. His paint store gave her someone to bake for, other than family, during her retirement years.

Jimmy gave a eulogy at our dad's funeral several years ago and he and Susan attended my mom's funeral. I hope that my sister and I were able to convey to him how much his gesture meant to us. Both Mama and Daddy held Jimmy in high regard and Jimmy was the kind of man that Daddy would have loved to have had as a son, if he had had any. Jimmy was a man of decency and honor.

The paint store years in East Point meant a lot to our family because Jimmy made the place feel like an old time general store where every customer was a friend. He will be missed.
