Joel Daniel Davis, Sr., age 66, of Stockbridge, GA, passed away 02/01/2016.
A native of Henry County, Joel never knew a stranger! He was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, GA, on September 13, 1949. Joel, also known as “Wildman,” worked/retired from Ford Motor Company and has many wild stories of the time he spent working there. On February 14, 1981, he married the love of his life, his world, his everything, Deborah L. Davis and they rarely spent a moment apart since that time.
Joel Davis was not only an avid hunter and fisherman, but he loved his sports teams; GA Bulldogs, Falcons and Braves, as well as Nascar and all other football and softball sports. More then anything, he was a family man and absolutely loved his wife, his kids and grandchildren with all his heart. Joel was a simple man by definition, but in reality, he was a very religious man and he loved his church, Guiding Light Baptist Church. To Joel, he was the kind of man who gave his heart in everything he did and to everyone he met. Strong, Brave, Courageous… He was a man of honor and touched many lives through his words, his actions and through his own personal battles and he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by: His wife, Deborah L. Davis, his son and wife, Shaun and Teresa Kent of McDonough, GA; his son and wife, Jason and Vina Kent of Sharpsburg, GA; his daughter and husband, Jessica and Mark Cannon of Covington, GA; his youngest son, Payton Davis; and his daughter and husband, Jill Davis Shumake and David Shumake of Hampton, GA; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Grindle, Derek Kent, Alina Kent, Taylor Kent, Zachary Kent, Jordan Cannon, Hayleigh Cannon, Jackson Davis and Joshua Shumake. And also by his brothers, Jody Davis and his wife Katherine Davis of Cleveland, GA, and Darrel Davis and his wife Vivian Davis of Stockbridge, GA.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Woodrow Davis and Audrey Irene Davis.
Long Live Wildman, may he fly high, fish far and wide and hunt some awesome game!
