John Gene Evans

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Gene had a love for family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was no stranger to hard work, as he founded and operated Gene Evans Roofing Company for many years; afterwhich, Gene worked and retired from Peachtree Peddlers Flea Market and Antique Mall after 27 years of service. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all he was an avid NASCAR fan.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia G. and John W. Evans, Sr.; three brothers, James E. Wilson, Richard W. Evans, and John W. Evans, Jr.; and two sisters, Becky I. Picker and Mary L. Puckett. He is survived by his daughter, Kasey Laimana; son, Gary Dotson (Courtney); bonus daughter, Anita Stowers (Jeff); two grandsons, Clay Laimana and Wyatt Dotson; two sisters, Ginger Ragsdale and Sandra Rogers (Mack); three brothers, Larry Evans (Darlene), Grady Evans (Kathy), and Raymond Evans (Darlene); along with many nieces, nephews and a whole bunch more family. We love you, Gene!

A visitation of family and friends will be held for Gene on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will take place immediately following visitation in Ward's Chapel. Services will conclude with a graveside committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
