A proud Vietnam veteran, Johnny served his country with honor and courage. He was a devoted husband to Shirley R. Simmons, a loving father to Dawn Simmons Penso and Lance D. Simmons, a proud father-in-law to Greg M. Penso, Jr., and a cherished grandfather to Kaylee G. Simmons. His strength, kindness, and love will be forever remembered.
Johnny’s legacy of service, devotion, and love lives on in all who knew him and will remain a blessing to his family.
Visitation of Johnny's family and friends will be held at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, on July 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A celebration of his life will take place at Ward's Chapel immediately following visitation, at 11:00 am. Services will conclude with graveside military honors and a committal at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281at approximately 12:00 pm.
