

Joseph Bowers Grant, Born, Oct. 14, 1940 and passed away Feb. 3, 2018 at the age of 77. Most of his life was spent living on River Road in Ellenwood, GA. He lived in Ball Ground, GA in 2005 with his daughter and family due to health issues. Employed by International Harvester in 1961 as a mechanic. During his career with International Harvester,he held positions of Assistant Branch Service Manager, Instructor in Diesel Technology, Branch Service Manager, Regional Branch Service Operations Manager and Manager of Technical Training Institute. Retired on disability in 1977.
His main interest when he was in good health was mechanics and woodworking. His favorite places to hang out were the lawnmower shop and golf course. He always displayed a lot of pride in his children and grandchildren. He loved kids and nature. He had many animals throughout his life. They always put a smile on his face. He had a funny personality. He was a simple man with a very generous heart. He would never hesitate to help someone in need. He was a talented man who was loved very much by his family and friends.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Sylvia Grant Kelly and Peggy Grant Sconiers along with brother-in-laws. Surviving a son, Michael Joseph Grant, and a daughter Tracy Grant Holcombe along with spouses. 5 grandchildren along with 4 spouses, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents. Robert Latimer Grant and Mary(Galloway) Grant Brannon. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, February 9th from 12 noon -12:45 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA. A graveside service will immediately follow on Friday, February 9th at 1 p.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA.
